Cory tweeted the news that he is going to be in a new film called Monte Carlo. Here is information on the film and cast from The Hollywood Reporter.
“Glee” star Cory Monteith and “Melrose Place” star Katie Cassidy are packing up their bags for “Monte Carlo,” joining Selena Gomez in Fox 2000 and New Regency’s teen adventure movie.
Andie MacDowell also will be in the movie, which already has Leighton Meester on board.
The adaptation of a Jules Bass young-adult book titled “Headhunters,” being directed by Tom Bezucha, centers on a girl (Gomez) who is mistaken for a socialite, resulting in her, her best friend and her soon-to-be stepsister flying to Monte Carlo for a charity auction. The story kicks into adventure mode when a million-dollar necklace goes missing and the girls must scramble to find it.
The movie could fall into the same wheelhouse as “Diary of a Wimpy Kid,” Fox’s recent hit adaptation of the popular Jeff Kinney books that also hit the teen and tween demo.
Cassidy plays one of Gomez’s friends (Meester plays the other), a high school dropout who wants to see what the world has to offer. Monteith plays her football player boyfriend, who travels to Europe to pursue her.
MacDowell plays Gomez’s mother.
Denise Di Novi and Alison Greenspan are producing along with Nicole Kidman and Rick Schwartz.
Bezucha and April Blair wrote the current draft.
The movie shoots this spring in Budapest, Paris and Nice, France.
Monteith, who plays jock Finn Hudson on “Glee,” the hit musical-themed TV show, will shoot the show on his hiatus. He is repped by APA and Red Management.
Cassidy, who also has appeared on TV’s “Supernatural” and “Harper’s Island,” will be seen on the big screen in the reboot of “A Nightmare on Elm Street.” She is repped by WME and Anonymous Content.
Congrats to Cory!
